Seebergkopf without a view on the Wendelstein

Today we go on a circular hike to the Seebergkopf (1538 m high, 760 meters of elevation gain). We get of in Bayrischzell and take the train back from Osterhofen.

We start at the main station. In the train, we occupy an entire compartment.

The train passes directly by the beautiful lake Schliersee.

According to the signpost, it takes 2 1/4 hours to get to the Seeberg. That is quite well calculated for us. However, we will take a break in between.

Cheerful hike over comfortable paths.

Further up there are more and more slippery roots and stones on the trail.

Where is the Wendelstein mountain?

We see many flowering plants along the way, like this orchid (Knabenkraut).

It is not cold today, but rather muggy warm. But soon we will come to a spring where we can refresh ourselves.

A moss-covered tree trunk along the path.

The Delicius spring turns out to be a puny trickle.

According to our taster, the spring tastes like ... water.

View in southern direction to the Ursprungpass.

We arrive on alpine pastures.

And there is the Neuhütte.

Denise in conversation with the farmer, who has still a lot to do and is not expecting guests so early. She suggests to go to the summit first.

But on our way down we will take a different path, so she lets us in and we enjoy a delicious drink on this lovingly decorated alpine hut.

We learn a lot of interesting things about the young cattle up here.

The hut has a spectacular view.

We leave the Neuhütte and make our way to the summit.

The path leads us up comfortably.

We pass the Seebergalm hut.

Only 20 minutes to the summit says the sign.

Up here in the fog it is much cooler.

On the last meters to the Seebergkopf summit (1538m).

There should be a great view on the Wendelstein from the summit, but the fog covers everything. Nevertheless we have our lunch break here, because we are quite hungry.

On the way down we pass the Seebergalm again.

Intense colors in misty weather.

Look here, says Franz.

In serpentines we go down.

Alpine pastures of the Klareralm.

Gaby has captured this beautiful butterfly photographically.

On the wide path can easily chat with each other.

Forest strawberries growing from a tree trunk.

This somewhat aged sign communicates a timeless mountaineer's wisdom.

The Steilenbach river. A few meters further on, it flows into the Alpbach river.

Lushly decorated farmhouse in Niederhofen.

Wonderful trails, atmospheric weather, very nice people. In short: It was great!
