Zugspitze on foot

The highest mountain in Germany with its 2962 m is a very desirable and ambitious summit destination.

In August we will climb the Zugspitze and hike back on the technically easiest way without using a cable car. This will take us 3 days.

On Sunday, August 22, we will travel by public transport to Ehrwald and walk over the "Gatterl" to the Knorrhütte (about 1200 meters altitude). The next day we climb to the top of Germany, the Zugspitze (925 m in altitude up and down). Then we pass another night at the Knorrhütte. On the third day we make the long way through the beautiful Reintal and the wild Partnachklamm to Garmisch (1500 m in descent, 19,5 km in distance).

6 to 7 people can participate. It is absolutely necessary that you have a good endurance and that you are safe climbing and scrambling on secured paths (wire-rope) with a lot of debris. Therefore only friends of Berglicht can participate who I already know personally and whose mountaineering capacities I can assess. If you are unsure whether this is something for you, please contact me.

If you want to participate, please register until Thu 5 August via the Berglicht group page at DAV-Munich (registration on waiting list!).

With your registration on the waiting list you still don’t have a fixed place! I will send you the details of the tour first, especially the estimated costs and cancellation conditions. This is because lodging at the Knorrhütte can only be cancelled free of charge before 7 August. Only with your written agreement to the cancellation conditions I can assign a fixed place.

But first we will hike to the Wank:

If you want to assess whether you can make the Zugspitze tour, you can also join us for the next hike on Wednesday, 4 August. We will hike a little over 1100 meters in altitude to the Wank and will have a great view to the Zugspitze from there.

There are still two places available. You can register via the the Berglicht group page at DAV-Munich. As usual, registration is first on a waiting list. You will get an email with the confirmation when you have a fixed place.

I am looking forward to seeing you!

Best wishes,

Denise
