From Kreuth to the Setzberg and back to Rottach-Egern

On the way to the Setzberg.

We go a short distance from the bus stop in Kreuth over the tarred road to the edge of the forest.

View back to the Leonardistein in the background and a small votive chapel in the foreground.

Up through the pleasantly shady forest.

Dense ferns grow in the sparse forest.

Such a wonderful path!

A beautiful mushroom at the wayside.

Cobwebs at the signpost.

It is getting steeper.

Finally the view opens.

In front of the panorama with Blankenstein and Risserkogel in the background.

When we crouch, we can see the Blankenstein and the Risserkogel behind us.

Before we go to the Setzberg, we make a small detour to the Grubereck.

We have to climb up a bit further.

Here we are at the Grubereck.

This is a wonderful spot to have a snack admiring the Guffert or just dozing a little ;-)

We leave the Blankenstein and Risserkogel to the right and make our way towards the Setzberg.

There it is, the Setzberg. Right behind it the Wallberg.

A little while we have to climb down.

Sometime we have to use our hands.

At the chamois observation point. No chamois in sight.

View down to the Röthensteinalm.

From time to time there are interesting information boards. All boards with explanations can be found here: www.baysf.de/alpenlehrpfad.

Another steep ascent.

Soon on the free summit meadow.

View in the direction of the Wendelstein.

Loads of large-flowered thistles just before the summit.

We arrive at the Setzberg summit.

Our obligatory summit photo.

The legs stretched out we enjoy the view of the Tegernsee lake.

Let's see if the cows can be photogenically captured in front of the Tegernsee lake.

It's not such a bad postcard motif!

Descending towards Wallberghaus with a view of the Wallberg.

The Tegernsee lake is really nice to look at.

We let our eyes wander.

For a short while we walk on very comfortable paths.

Passing the beautiful Freisinger Hütte.

Shortly after that we are back in the forest. A hollow tree trunk provides a nice photo motif.

The path is getting narrower and steeper.

A bit of scrambling.

Passing a stone wall.

Fresh raspberries.

Further and further downwards.

Rocks in the forest.

We reach a forest road.

Once again we allow ourselves a short breather with the Tegernsee panorama.

A picturesque little hut at a clearing.

We reach the Wallbergmoosalm.

Reminding words.

A bit tired we arrive at the Alm.

Delicious rhubarb cake for the sweet tooth.

Alternatively spinach dumplings with strong mountain cheese.

Well satiated and happy.

The path on this steep mountain flank is nicely wide.

Nearly there.

Relaxed we wait for the bus.

We stay relaxed, even if it's not quite comfortable in the overcrowded bus and train.

That was a great tour today!
