Conquering several peaks at the Hörnle

We reach Bad Kohlgrub by train and bus. Wonderful sunshine receives us and compensates for our month-long break.

First we walk through Guggenberg past beautiful farmhouses.

Shortly after between meadows and fields, the Zeitberg and the Vorderes Hörnle are already in view.

There is no risk to miss the path to the Hörnlehütte.

In the forest it is pleasantly cool, but the path is getting gradually steeper.

We need a drink break.

Refreshed, we continue.

We hike across open meadows...

...behind us the Große Klammspitze and the Hohe Bleick...

...and in the shade of the Hörnlehütte we take our first snack break.

Up here from the Zeitberg, the view of the Ammergau Alps is simply wonderful.

Our three goals are in sight: On the left, up the meadow to the Vorderes Hörnle, on the right, through the forest to the Mittleres Hörnle, and in between, at the very back, the Hinteres Hörnle, is peeking out.

We leave the Hörnlehütte and the Zeitberg behind us and climb the steep path to the Vorderes Hörnle.

Soon we will be at the summit cross. On the right between the forest you can already see the path to our next goal, the Mittleres Hörnle.

Our first real summit today. At the summit cross of the Vorderes Hörnle.

But it's about to walk down towards our next goal...

...up to the Mittleres Hörnle.

Our second summit, the Mittleres Hörnle.

First things first. We take a summit photo as proof that we climbed this peak, too.

Then we continue on the other side of the mountain towards the next one.

The rustic Hörnlealm.

Through wide meadows up to the last summit for today. The two Hörnles we have already climbed up are behind us.

With this great view we have to stop for a moment and take a photo.

The stones overlook the so called Five-Lakes-Country.

Phew! After a total of 770 meters in altitude, we've reached our destination for the day, the Hinteres Hörnle. Now we need a longer break.

After a hearty snack, we take the shortest route towards the Hörnlehütte.

The mountain farmers are already preparing the pasture fences.

At the Hörnlehütte we order coffee, cake and Kaiserschmarrn.

Downhill we are much faster and even do a jog at the end.

A bit out of breath we reach the earlier bus and train connection.

The train to Munich passes directly by the Starnberger See.

After a wonderful day with nice people and interesting conversations we arrive in Munich happy, satisfied and also a bit tired.
