Autumn hike to the Laber

As always we are not impressed by the weather forecast, get on the train to Oberau and take the bus from there to Oberammergau.

Passing Ettal Monastery, we head up towards the clouds.

Cute little calves are admired and photographed.

From here it goes uphill.

Soon it gets steeper.

Further up we walk through dense coniferous forest and fern bushes.

We like it here!

We have got a bit off the path, but discover an ancient maple.

Back on the right path, we pass giant fallen trees.

Between mosses and tree roots...

...and under fallen tree trunks...

...we finally reach more open terrain with a magnificent view.

In the fog these rock formations look even more interesting.

There is our destination: The Laber mountain with its antenna-armed house.

No view towards the Zugspitze, but nevertheless we take a group picture here.

As there is a nice view on the other side, we take just another group picture towards the north.

But now we need some warm drinks.

Even though the cable car promises a comfortable return trip, we go down on foot.

It's pretty foggy down there ...

In the best of moods we walk downhill and can even enjoy some sun.

These fellows give us a good scare when one of them tries to push Denise away with his horns.

We continue under a blue sky over wide meadows.

Passing a bridge...

... we get to a hut with "interesting" decoration.

Bavarian humour ;-)

Back in Oberammergau. As so often, we find that we enjoy wonderful hikes even in mixed weather.
