We set off bravely towards the Chiemgau, where the weather forecast predicts the most acceptable weather for today. On the train, masks are mandatory, which makes communication difficult, but does not stop our lively conversations ;-)
As soon as we get off the train in Bernau, we fill our lungs with the wonderful fresh air. At the beginning of our hike the clouds are still low. We walk through the picturesque village with its beautiful farmhouses crossing the cemetery at the end of the village .
The movement and the humid summer air makes us quickly discard all unnecessary layers of clothing. We hike through the dense forest on narrow and steep paths and arrive at the Lindlalm in less than two hours. There we make ourselves comfortable at the cozy table in front of the hut and enjoy our snacks.
The view onto lake Chiemsee gets a dramatic touch from the low-hanging clouds. Then the sun comes out and the weather stays sunny for the rest of the day! After an hour's rest, we walk just a few meters further to the highest point to the Reifenberg. The view is still limited by some clouds, but we catch a glimpse of the Gedererwand and the Kampenwand.
Now the first adventure awaits us. We have to pass a meadow with several bulls which are lined up right at the gate. Luckily we have a couple of cattle whisperers with us who persuade the animals to let us open the gate and go through. Phew, we just survived that! ;-)
We walk down in beautiful sunshine over wide paths and come to the Herrenalm. There we have to maneuver past the mud which was trampled by cows in recent days.
The next little adventure is overcoming a landslide. A sign with the inscription "slope in motion" could make us worry. But we get safely to the other side of the small slope and can continue relaxed our way towards the Seiseralm.
At the Seiseralm we order Radler, Holunderschorle, various delicious pastries and ice cream. Here we could stay forever enjoying the view from the terrace on lake Chiemsee view and the green meadow hills. When we get up at last, we have to increase our pace to catch our train in time.
In Munich the rain puts a happy smile on our faces after this sunny and beautiful day.
