What about the next hike? When is it planned?
You're not the only one wondering. I'd love to suggest a date, but Corona has us firmly in its grip again and at the moment we shouldn't be adding contacts by doing group hikes.
It would be great if we could hike together again in January. In any case, my Wednesdays are already blocked for the next possible date ;-). In the meantime, I hope you'll still enjoy our beautiful mountains.
In the last newsletter from 16 November I suggested some of our previous hikes for you to follow. Little by little I will publish more hikes in Alpenvereinaktiv. You can find them when you click on my name and on "Contents". Even in winter there are beautiful destinations in the mountains which are possible to hike relatively easy. But don’t forget to pack your shoespikes. You don’t want dangerous situations to arise on snow or ice.
When it's cold and cloudy in Munich, sometimes it can be sunny and warm in the mountains. With a bit of luck, you'll be standing above a breathtaking bank of fog, like last weekend on the Hochries (see photo). Such inversions often occur in autumn and winter in high-pressure systems with no wind and can last for several days.
In addition to the weather forecast, you can find out about the conditions in the mountains through webcams. There are many webcams on the site foto-webcam.eu. To see the webcams of the Bavarian Alps, select the region in the tab "Region" or zoom into the desired area on the overview map and click on the various webcams.
The best time to view these live images is during the day, of course, so that you don't see only night-time images. But many webcams also have a timeline where you can view previous images.
